It is with great sadness I have to inform you of the passing of my PC. She performed admirably for many years until a lightning bolt decided it was time for her to go.
While my PC, Samsung Tablet, and laptop were on a surge protector strip, the strip failed and fried the lot. Thankfully, my TV/Monitor and phone were on different surge protector that did work as intended. So I maybe without PC, but at least I can relieve my boredom by watching TV and TikTok.
Unfortunately this does mean I can no longer skin/mod, I can’t update my existing mods, and worse still I have likely lost all of my skin files and WIP content because but my OS and storage/Game drive were nVME and were likely toasted along side the motherboard.
For those that are not aware I am unemployed and on disability benefits, and given the UK government think I can live on a penny a week it is simply not possible for me to go out and rebuild.
Best case scenario only the mobo and PSU are dead, worst case scenario mobo, PSU, CPU, RAM, and GPU are gone. The problem is if I take a risk on a mobo & PSU and it turns out the CPU is dead, it actually works out more expensive to buy a 9th gen CPU (inc mobo/PSU) than to just rebuild with 12th or 13th gen intel. Given my circumstances it is obviously safer to just rebuild from the ground up on 12/13th gen but this is going to take me months potentially a year on my own.
While I do have access to this laptop, it’s an 8yr old laptop that was barely fit for purpose when my Dad bought it for himself and was obviously never for gaming. The fact that it takes 6+ minutes just to open Discord should probably tell you how crappy it is.
